A coaching that explores the foundations

Coaching can resolve clearly defined problems or help achieve specific goals. It does so primarily by revealing what was previously hidden — limiting thoughts, lack of clarity, repetitive patterns — which then allows for a shift in perspective and behaviour.

What I offer goes further. We work together at a more fundamental level: exploring your view of the world and of yourself, where many things play out unconsciously and manifest in your well-being and in the course of your life. This work reveals the mechanisms that lead you to think and act as you generally do.

Deeper changes then become possible: seeing the world differently, finding your place within it, living in accordance with your values, and making choices that truly reflect who you are — in your work, in your relationships, and in the people you choose to surround yourself with. We remain, however, always oriented towards the goals you have set for yourself.

The invisible narrative of your life

We all construct a narrative about ourselves, others and the world. This narrative is nourished by our view of the world and of ourselves, which stems from our biology, our culture, our upbringing, our experiences and the many influences that have shaped us. It is fundamental to understand that this narrative is our life. In our daily lives, we live it most often without being aware of it, and it thus confines us within limits that we set for ourselves.

And yet, in any situation, we retain the freedom to choose how we interpret what happens to us, how we relate to it, and what we make of it. But this requires becoming aware of the lens through which we see the world.

The work I propose is not to replace the foundations of who you are, nor to start from scratch. I am here to help you become aware of entire aspects of yourself that have remained hidden from you. You thus gain a broader understanding of what shapes you, allowing you to take greater responsibility for yourself and your life, and to choose, in full awareness, what truly corresponds to who you are.

Giving meaning to your life

A sense of meaning in your life will gradually emerge, rooted in a deeper understanding of what shapes you and the way you perceive the world. This meaning is rich in dimensions, for example:
Coherence: the feeling that the pieces of your perception of the world come together into an intelligible whole.
Value: the feeling that your existence matters, in relation to others and to the world.
Direction: the destination towards which you want to orient your life.

We do not work towards achieving “happiness”. In psychology, it remains a vague notion, difficult to define objectively and highly dependent on the circumstances of the moment. It is furthermore laden with cultural representations and social pressures that do more harm than good: the idea that one should be happy, all the time, often creates more suffering than it resolves. We move towards something deeper and more lasting: a genuine sense of well-being — that is, an alignment between who you are and the life you live, and the means to preserve it.

Action

There is a time for everything: a time for inner exploration and reflection, and a time for action. For we are living beings, life is movement, and changes must take root in our behaviours. It is by applying what we discover together that your learning becomes integrated, that change becomes real, and that your life transforms.

Spiritual questions

It can happen, very naturally, that spiritual questions emerge during the coaching process. I define these as questions about the meaning of our lives within a reality that transcends us.

These questions naturally include those relating to religion and morality. My role is not to convey a truth or to arbitrate on these matters, but to help you explore, if you wish, the construction of your own beliefs, in order to choose those that truly correspond to who you are. The only elements I might share on this subject are current scientific insights that may shed light on some of these questions.
